A Company Born Out of Purpose
When we started Green Vet Homes, we leveraged the lessons learned from previous experience buying, rehabbing, and selling. We very intentionally identified the values most important to us and structure the company to operate based upon these factors.
One major factor was the use of systems to make everything from the home purchasing process to the quality of rehab work as simplified as possible for everyone involved. There are thousands of factors that go into purchasing and rehabbing a home, so it's extremely important to make this process straight-forward and organized for sellers and buyers alike.
It is important that Green Vet Homes creats a win-win situation for all parties involved. Buyers and sellers need to feel happy and relieved with their property is in the hands of GVH. Contractors should feel that their hard work is properly rewarded. Tenants should feel that they're renting the house of their dreams for a fair price.
For all of these reasons, we've committed that Green Vet Homes will always provide our partners with equal or greater value than what GVH receives in return.
The final and most important aspect is how we wound up with our brand name. Green Vet Homes is committed to using green, sustainable products whenever possible, and also committed to donating a portion of all profits to support veterans who have served this great country.
At GVH, we are equally proud of both the values we stand for and the quality of our homes.
I bought my first rental property in 2006 while serving as a 2LT in the US Army. After that, I knew real estate was going to be something I would do for the rest of my life.
Since then, I have continued to purchase quality rental properties, as well as many many fixer-uppers that my team and I have rehabbed over the years.
In 2011, I left active duty military and started my first full-time property rehabbing company, iCandy Homes, with two of my good friends. Over the following 4 years, we rehabbed over 70 properties, transforming them from outdated fixer-uppers into magnificent works of art.
In 2016, I set out to form a new company leveraging everything I'd learned over the previous 10 years. I wanted to continue purchasing and rehabbing properties, and also be able to serve a purpose that I'm passionate about: supporting veterans and their families. Thus, Green Vet Homes was born.
I'm blessed to be able to do what I love everyday. At the same time, I'm able to improve local communities and support veterans. I'm thankful for the experiences I've had in the military and business, and for the people who've always supported me throughout this process.
Drafted and served 2 years in the U.S. Army. After the military I graduated from Western IL University in 1977. Growing up in a small town I worked numerous jobs; many of which were in construction. My 35 year career in the public sector also involved me in many construction projects such as golf course club house construction, and the design and construction of fitness & community center, raquet club, parks, and playgrounds.
After retiring from park district life in 2011, I was fortunate to work with my son Kirby at iCandy Homes. In 2016 when Kirby followed his passion and started Green Vet Homes, I was blessed to once again work for Kirby. Not only do I get to work with Kirby, but we get to make a difference in the lives of homeless veterans.
